Read Out Loud #1

This event is no longer on sale.

Wednesday April 26

6:00 PM  –  8:00 PM

MCA Denver is excited to host Read Out Loud at the museum in conjunction with The Stacks exhibition in the Open Shelf Library. Read Out Loud, originated by Caryn Keffer, creates a forum in which participants read something—anything—of their choice out loud. The program riffs on children’s story time, poetry readings, and book talks. Read Out Loud differs from these events, however, in its democratic nature. All attendees read, and all readers listen. Without rules or a predetermined reading order, participants govern each session themselves. Sometimes readers introduce or explain their chosen material, and sometimes participants engage with one another in discussions about readings. The variety of material shared at each session, the changing roster of readers, and the non-hierarchical nature of the gatherings ensure that every Read Out Loud is unique.

Read Out Loud will occur at the museum on five dates:

  •  Wednesday, April 26th from 6 – 8 PM
  •  Special Fem & Co. Read Out Loud: Saturday, May 27th
  •  Sunday, June 25th from 12 – 2 PM
  •  Friday, July 21st from 5 – 7 PM
  •  Tuesday, August 15th from 7 – 9 PM

20 participants are welcome at each session. To allow everyone who is interested in attending Read Out Loud the chance to do so, we ask that you only register for one of the above-listed dates. You must register in order to participate. You will receive en email confirming your registration with additional details about the program.
